J. Johnson, featuring studio performance recorded in June 22, 1953. Part of its material was originally released on the Blue Note label as a 10-inch LP record entitled ''J. J. Johnson with Clifford Brown''.〔(Blue Note discography ) accessed September 14, 2010〕 At the time of the recording session, Johnson had withdrawn from full-time playing to work as a blueprint inspector.〔 The 2001 CD reissue included three alternative takes as bonus tracks. ==Reception== The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow awarded the album 4½ stars and stated "Although Johnson has a couple of features, Clifford Brown largely steals the show".〔Yanow, S.
